INSTALLATION

Motor
1. Check the nameplate data on the motor to assure that the available power supply agrees with the motor requirements. Protective devices should be of the proper size and rating to safely carry the load and interrupt the circuit on overloads.

2. If the motor has been stored in a damp location, the winding may require drying.
NOTE: Do not obstruct the normal flow of ventilation air through or over the motor.

3. Connect the motor in accordance with the National Electric Code and local requirements, but do not make the connections permanent until the motor rotation has been checked.

Identify motor auxiliary devices such as space heaters or temperature sensors. Connect them in proper circuits and insulate them from motor power cables.

4. Jog the motor to check for correct rotation prior to securing wiring.

Mounting Support structure must be rigid enough to prevent deflection and vibration. Mounting fasteners and flange-to-vessel seal are not supplied with agitator unless specified. Center mounted units must be installed with anti-swirl tank baffles. Angle mounted units must be positioned as shown in Bulletin 02-060 to properly provide optimum mixing results.

Agitator
Correct installation requires both the unit assembly drawing and this manual.

Completely read and understand all of the following instructions before attempting to install or service this equipment.

1. Depending on the size of the mixer and configuration of impeller, unit may be shipped in different degrees of assembly. Carefully examine assembly drawing & locate all parts. Instructions encompass complete assembly. Some steps may not be necessary on initial installation.

2. Remove all shipping constraints, including any protective covering on the mounting flange face.

3. If the shaft is loose and will be coupled to the mixer, install the shaft in the tank first and block up the coupling on the mounting nozzle carefully so as not to damage.

4. Set the proper mounting flange seal (gasket or o-ring) on the vessel flange and protect it from damage.

5. Lift the drive end into position above the tank flange. If the shaft is loose, connect the shaft coupling halves securely together taking care to make sure the coupling faces are clamped together all around. Tighten bolts per Bulletin 01-200. Otherwise, carefully lower the shaft through the tank opening.

6. Bolt the drive flange and tank flange securely together making sure that the drive flange is level and the shaft is plumb. Tighten bolts per Bulletin 01-200.

7. Install impellers onto the shaft as necessary. Refer to the drawing for location details. Impellers should be installed with the flat or concave side of the blades away from the drive unit.

8. Insert key into keyway on motor shaft.

9. Engage motor shaft and key into bore and keyway of gearbox input quill.

10. Bolt motor to gearbox. Tighten bolts to proper torque per Bulletin 01-200.

11. Connect motor. Refer to motor section of this Bulletin.

12. Install and attach any purge inlet and outlet lines. If no lines are being attached, make sure that plugs are installed in these ports.

13. Install any probes and controls in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions.

14. Fill the gearbox with the proper oil and to the proper level if the unit was shipped with no oil.

15. Jog motor quickly to check for proper shaft rotation.

16. Fill tank to proper operating level.

17. Start mixer, check for vibration, noise, & oil leaks. If excess vibration or abnormal noises are present, shut the mixer off immediately and consult trouble shooting guide Bulletin 06-050. After problem has been corrected, mixer may be restarted.
